about me

background

I’ve worked as a graphic designer, software engineer, archivist, waitress, bookshop manager, translator, sales assistant, media and PR officer, and writer. I love anything that combines technical and administrative disciplines with literary and artistic sensibilities. I am efficient and self-driven, used to independent work such as academic research and remote projects.

experience

  • Designed the media kit for the rollout of La Chunga’s latest single, Correspondencia. Full branding design was provided, with album art, Spotify images and namestyles, and social media promotional pictures.

  • Designed a newspaper that acted as a narrative sandbox for the players of my Dungeons & Dragons campaign to feel immersed in a world bigger than their characters.

  • Game design compendium of item descriptions, themed around the existing IP of the British LARP Empire, created by Profound Decisions.

  • Fictional travel guide to the underground systems and tourist landmarks of the city in a radio play script I am writing. This will act as both a worldbuilding aid and also as a companion to the main narrative.

  • I have designed album art for musician Anastasia’s 2019 single Prettier That Way, as well as alternate art for records I enjoy, and made-up album art.

communications and tech

  • Remote flexible job. I developed new features for the company’s backend platform, monitored and deployed services and oversaw automation, providing internal guidance to developers using these tools.

  • Created marketing assets (copy, graphics, videos) and upkept the plays’ social media. Organised internal communication across teams. Contacted media outlets, managed press nights.

  • Wrote research-informed content on testimonial historical literature for a set of ten leaflets, each summing up critical discussion and group attitudes towards books that had been discussed in a book club over previous months. This initiative was organised and promoted by the local City Council as part of their heritage cultural programme.

  • Was invited back to my arts school to speak at the inaugural lecture to current students and teachers about my career and my experience as a migrant creative.

  • I interned at the Syon Abbey archive, University of Exeter Special Collections department. I catalogued, transcribed and repackaged textual and photographical sources dating from the 19th century to 2011.

  • Editing intern, Ivor Gurney: The Complete Poetical Works, Volume 2, ed. Philip Lancaster and Tim Kendall. Oxford University Press, forthcoming. I proofread pages and transcribed manuscripts; created index pages and organised content in the volume. Regular dialogue with my manager while working remotely due to COVID-19 improved my teamwork and communication skills.

  • I ran a channel where I discussed books and vlogged my reading life.

  • Deputy editor for the fortnightly independent newspaper of the University of Exeter, awarded Best Publication 2019-20 by the UK Student Publication Association.Founding editor of Beyond Exeter (later International), a section that pioneered voices of international students and academics. Duties included pastoral responsibility for more than thirty section editors, liaising with editors-in-chief, and creating backup content. I acquired teamwork and risk management skills.
